Gravity Summit NYC - Twitter and the Real Time Social Web

We’re excited about the speaker lineup we’ll be announcing shortly for Gravity Summit NYC.  And, yes, we will be focusing on social media’s impact on entertainment, media, advertising and business.

We held the first Gravity Summit at UCLA on February 25, 2009. That was followed by Stanford in May, UCI in June, Harvard in August and NYC coming up in November.

Here we are, less than a year later, and the conversation is shifting again.  Back in February, tweeting an event was still relatively new.  Now the buzz is about the Real Time Web - and critics claim the 140 character limit of Twitter and the popularity of Facebook, etc. are indications we have a shorter attention span and our social interactions are more stilted.

We disagree. The Real Time Social Web is exactly that - social, connected, multi-faceted, exciting, fast moving.  Yes, it’s a conundrum to some marketers and brands that things can move so far and fast.  Others have embraced it and welcomed the new opportunities.

Gravity Summit NYC on November 16, 2009 will be squarely focused on this new phenomenon as it relates to business.  Rodney says that “Twitter is a particle accelerator”.  According to the definition on Wikipedia, a particle accelerator is “a device that uses electric fields to propel ions or charged subatomic particles to high speeds and to contain them in well-defined beams. An ordinary CRT television set is a simple form of accelerator. There are two basic types: linear accelerators and circular accelerators.”

Businesses who embrace this high-speed, laser focused social energy will find themselves well ahead of their competitors.  Join us on November 16 in New York City to hear how Current TV, AdWeek, Deep Focus, Operation Smile, the Roger Smith Hotel, Intuit, Domino’s and others are riding this new wave into the social web and how your business can jump on board.

Announcing: Gravity Summit New York City November 16, 2009

Beverly Hills, CA — Gravity Summit is pleased to announce the upcoming Social Media Marketing for Business event to take place in New York City on November 16, 2009 from 9:00 - 4:30 at the Edward Ney building in Manhattan.

Gravity Summit events are designed to educate and inform and empower marketing professionals, small business owners, advertisers, and C-Level executives, and others, about social media and the exciting new marketing and communications landscape that is evolving daily.

Coming off the huge success of Gravity Summit at Harvard on August 31, which was streamed on CNN.com/live and headlined by MC Hammer and Gary Vaynerchuk, co-founders Beverly Macy and Rodney Rumford are pleased to continue to provide the top of the line speakers for the New York business community.

Gravity Summit UCLA was the first Signature Event of 2009, followed by events at Stanford and UCI. In all, senior executives and decision makers from over 150 Fortune 500 companies and small businesses have attended the events. Speakers from Sprint, Sony Pictures, Yahoo!, Dell, Cisco, the American Red Cross, Six Apart, DIRECTV, Facebook, Digg, Domino’s, EMC, Arnold Worldwide, and more have presented their Social Media Marketing case studies.

“There were well over 4000 Tweets and #gravsum was a trending topic on Twitter. This just goes to show the enormous digital reach and rapid velocity of great content being shared outside of a physical location with just 120 attendees,” said Rodney Rumford, co-founder.

“We are working on some very big announcements for New York regarding speakers and sponsors, ” said Beverly Macy, CEO. “Gravity Summit has been referred to as the ‘gold standard’ of social media conferences and we will definitely live up to that for our New York City attendees.”

Join the business community for a full day of information, case studies and special guest speakers, social media marketing soup to nuts. In this classroom-like setting, attendees will learn how to establish strategic objectives and ROI targets for successful social media campaigns. You will leave knowing how to get started in the Social Media world and move in the right direction to meet your business objectives.

Due to the exclusivity of the upcoming venue, registration will be extremely limited. Less that 100 registrations will be accepted, no exceptions. To register for Gravity Summit NYC go to http://www.gravitysummit.com/register

Gravity Summit at Harvard Post Event Highlights

Whew! I just returned back to San Diego from the amazing Gravity Social Media Summit at Harvard. The event was held at the historic Harvard Faculty Club and was a sight to behold. The rapid pace of the event and the amount of truly insightful content that was shared by the presenters and attendees was truly amazing. To have this many great minds in 1 room at 1 time helping each better understand how businesses are using social media for high impact results is a sight to behold. The huge online engagement from the Twittersphere immediately added to the conversation. To have this massive reach to a worldwide audience is a sign of how important conversations get shared online.

There were well over 4000 Tweets and #gravsum was a trending topic on Twitter. This just goes to show the enormous digital reach and rapid velocity of great content being shared outside of a physical location with just 120 attendees.

The entire days events were live streamed on CNN.com/Live to a worldwide audience. Here is a Live interview with MC Hammer from the event that ran on CNN Television.
